Hourly Salary: $20.84 / hour
Job Type:  Full Time / Non-Exempt
Shift: Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Varies)
Hours Per Pay Period: 80

Job Description

The Medical Specialist/Appointment Runner is a critical member of the Residential team. They assist with the scheduling of all medical appointments within the residential department. They assist with each person attending scheduled appointments and advocating with them regarding their healthcare. This position requires driving the people we support to their medical appointments. The Medical Specialist/Appointment Runner will be required to assist people who use wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment. The position is fast-paced and requires strong time management and organizational skills. The Medical Specialist/Appointment Runner must have an eye for detail to ensure all forms and paperwork are filled out clearly and accurately.  This position works closely with other departments as well as the agency nurse. The position requires successful completion of the Maryland MTTP course. This position requires flexibility with time. The Medical Specialist/Appointment Runner position is a “hands on” position that works closely with adults with intellectual disabilities who often require additional physical assistance.
 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Scheduling medical appointments for approximately 40 people and taking them to the appointments.
  • Filling out all necessary forms required for the medical department.
  • Oversight of daily medication orders and delivery.
  • Work closely with the agency delegating nurse to ensure quality healthcare for each person supported.
  • Monthly processing of medications for the following month.
  • Sharing information with other departments to allow for seamless services for each person supported.
  • Assist with medication administration at sites when needed.
  • Providing direct care assistance when needed including toileting and feeding.
  • Possibility of assisting with administering medication early mornings, late evenings, weekends.

        Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Full drivers license
  • Clean Driving Record with 2 years driving experience and less than 2 points on driving record
  • Experience working with disabled adults preferred
  • Basic Computer Skills
