Personal Support Coach 1:1

Hourly Salary: $11.06 Hourly

Job Type:  Non Exempt Part Time 

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 3:30 pm

Hours per pay period: 70 hours bi-weekly

Location: Spring Dell Center, Inc., La Plata, MD

Job Description:

A part-time position (35 hours per week) is available (Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 3:30) for an interested applicant to support a young lady who enjoys spending time with her friends and family, and experiencing new opportunities in her community.  She enjoys watching movies on her tablet, going to the pool and listening to music. Because she has difficulty regulating her body temperature, she does not like being too hot or too cold.  Additionally, she also requests your assistance with most if not all of her care needs, to include feeding and medication administration.  She is very easy going and enjoys a smiling face! We are eager to hire an applicant that can help us discover more of her interests and plan meaningful days with her in the community doing volunteer work, recreation, and eventually seeking employment.

Preference will be given to an applicant who can demonstrate the abilities to communicate with her by learning her body language because she does not speak, be creative with other communication devices, organized, motivated, and able to encourage her to experience and try new experiences in the community. The successful applicant for this position will be a self-starter, and have the ability to schedule community experiences and activities as well as provide assistance in vocational exploration/endeavors that are of interest to this young lady.  The applicant will also need to be independent with problem solving and working independently as they assist her to achieve her personal, social and vocational goals in the community, not a facility setting. An ideal employee will serve as an active role model that welcomes new opportunities, some possible challenges and embraces the chance to enhance this young woman’s life experiences. The applicant should demonstrate the ability to be routine oriented, observant, but prepared when a situation warrants a quick change.

Duties Include but not limited to:

  • Implementing person centered goals for this young woman.
  • Assisting this young woman with monitoring/documenting her progress.
  • Assisting him with her personalized plans.
  • Supporting her in planning activities that promote interest for employment, volunteering and events; all in the community.
  • Supporting her with identifying other needed supports to be successful in the community.
  • Supporting her with a schedule of supports in the community 5 days per week.
  • Supporting her with monitoring her health, hygiene, and safety.

Qualifications and Skills

       Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
  • Clean driving record with 2 years driving experience.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Experience working with disabled adults preferred.

       Required Education:

  • High School diploma or GED.
