Training Specialist 1:1

Salary: $11.06/hour

Job Type:  Non Exempt FullTime 

Shift: Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. 

Hours per pay period: 80 hours

Location: Spring Dell Center, Inc., La Plata, MD

Responsibilities and Duties

A Full-Time positon is available (Daily 7:30 through 3:30 Monday through Friday) for an interested applicant to support a very conversational, curious and energetic adult.  He enjoys sharing fun times with friends, going to share experiences in the community while learning and engaging in energetic events, playing his Gameboy, Wii, board and card games.  He is also very athletic and enjoys working out. He loves singing and performing.  He has diagnoses of Moderate Intellectual Disability and Speech and Language Impairment etc. 

Preference will be given to the person who can demonstrate the abilities to be creative, organized, motivated and able to communicate in “a friendly manner, often with riddles.”  The successful applicant for this position will be a self-starter, and have the ability to schedule community experiences and activities; as well as provide assistance in vocational endeavors taken on by the young man.  They will also be inclined to; problem-solve and work independently as they assist him to achieve his personal, social and vocational goals.

You must have the ability to be routine oriented, but be able to quickly adapt when called for by a situation. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Implementing goals.
  • Monitoring/documenting progress.
  • Assisting with individual’s personalized plans.
  • Being aware of circumstances where safety could be at risk.
  • Planning activities around areas that may peak his interest for employment, volunteering, and community engagement.
  • Planning activities which will give the opportunity to develop vocational, community, and social skills.
  • Actively participating in all aspects of his supports.
  • Coordinate supports in the community 5 days per week.

Qualifications and Skills

       Minimum Requirements:

  • Clean driving record with 2 years driving experience.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with disabled adults preferred.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
