Training Specialist 1:1
Job Type: Non Exempt FullTime
Shift: Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Hours per pay period: 80 hours
Location: Spring Dell Center, Inc., La Plata, MD
Responsibilities and Duties
A Full Time position is available (7:30 am-3:30 pm Monday through Friday) for an interested applicant to support a very energetic adult with Intellectual Disabilities. He enjoys his independence, working, shopping, eating, sharing new experiences with peers and staff, and using the computer to play hidden object and puzzle games.
Preference will be given to the person who can demonstrate the ability to be creative, organized, motivated, and a self-starter. The successful applicant in this position will have the abilities to schedule outings and activities; as well as provide on-site support to him at his places of work. He currently works 2 days a week at a pizzeria where he cleans. He also currently works 1 day a week at a pharmacy store where he operates the cash register. The ideal candidate will also be inclined to problem solve, work independently and provide excellent customer service as they assist the young man to achieve his personal, social, and vocational goals. A great candidate will serve as an active role model whom welcomes a challenge. You must have the ability to be routine oriented yet able to adapt when called for by a situation. Desired character traits include; being compassionate, pro-active, observant, caring and patient.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Assisting with “Individual’s Personalized Plan”.
Being aware of circumstances where safety could be at risk.
Planning activities around areas that may peak his interest for employment, volunteering, and community engagement.
Planning activities which will provide the opportunity to develop vocational, community, and social skills.
Actively participating in all aspects of his supports.
Coordinate supports in the community while he is not at work.
Qualifications and Skills
Clean driving record with 2 years driving experience.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience working with disabled adults preferred.
Basic Computer Skills.
